Vahid Andalib
About me
I am a statistician with a PhD in Statistics, specializing in high-dimensional data analysis, biostatistics, and machine learning. I focus on developing advanced statistical methods for analyzing complex datasets, such as those found in clinical trials and gene expression studies. Proficient in R programming, I enjoy applying data-driven solutions to real-world challenges. Outside work, Iā€™m passionate about cooking, exploring space, soccer, participating in sports, metal music, and unwinding with video games.
Education
Research
I am working with Dr. Seungchul Baek on high-dimensional statistics, specifically focusing on datasets where the number of features exceeds the number of observations. We have developed classification algorithms incorporating feature selection, tailored for high-dimensional datasets. Our work has centered on applying these algorithms to gene expression data in cancer research, where the number of genes (features) typically far exceeds the number of patient samples (observations).
